Aside from a very little touch up painting…we’

Aside from a very little touch up painting…we’re finished! We are done with our basement remodel that we started in February. 🎉 Sterling and I live live in a small Westminster house (a suburb just outside of Denver). And we basically just doubled our living space in that we made it more tailored to what we wanted to use it for. We like to entertain and didn’t really have the seated table space upstairs. So now it’s our favorite place to lounge and watch TV and also come down for a cocktail or hang out with friends. Sterling also has his office down here and we still have a spare bedroom. We’ll be outside in our backyard a lot this summer, but this will be where we hang with friends especially during the colder, winter months! And when I’m done gardening on a hot summer day, I’ll be coming straight down here to the cool basement! #basementremodel #homeprojects #homelife #letsstayhome #livingspaces

I’m a firm believer in doing what works for your

I’m a firm believer in doing what works for your garden. In Denver, we are pretty lucky and we don’t have tons of bugs (compared to say, the Midwest where I grew up). Don’t get me wrong. We do have bugs. And I’m not sure I’ll grow Brussels sprouts again from my first bug infested batch I tried to grow once! I started out gardening without using Miracle Gro and products to control pests simply out of need to keep cost down. Plus, if I’m eating food from my yard, I really don’t want to introduce chemicals to it. It’s worked so far for me! And I swear that by putting up bird feeders in my yard and attracting more birds, I’m seeing way less bugs like earwigs in my yard. But who knows! If it’s working, it is. And if it’s not, I’ll never know. 🤷‍♀️ #organicgardener #organicgardening #vegetablegarden #denvergardening #denverbackyardgarden

It’s been about two months since I started these

It’s been about two months since I started these seeds indoors (under very inexpensive small grow lights). And now here we are a couple weeks away from putting them in the ground! These are mostly all tomatoes, okra and jalapeño peppers. I experimented with a few corn plants this time. But more just for fun. I’ve been taking the time to harden them off these past couple weeks, getting them out in the sun on nice days, starting at 20 minutes a time and working my way up based on how it looks like they’re taking it. Next step will be getting them out on some hotter sunny days. We’ve really only had 70s here in Denver so far. So as it warms up, I’ll hope to give them at least half days in the hot sun before putting them in the ground.
